This program will focus on aspects of cochlear implantation including candidacy, technology and (re)habilitation. Basic premises of cochlear implant clinical care will be reviewed as well as discussion of advanced technology options and treatment for special populations including multiply involved children, cases of auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder (ANSD) and the very elderly. Current and future trends in cochlear implantation will be discussed. Case studies and current research will be used as a practical means to integrate knowledge of cochlear implant clinical care from hearing loss diagnosis to long-term outcomes.
