The Aphasias and other Language and Verbal Output Disorders Associated with Acquired Brain Injury

This training has been developed to provide participants with an understanding of the types of cognitive-communicative disorders associated with different types of acquired brain injuries (ABI). Disorders of speech output (e.g., dysarthria, dysprosodia) and their relationship to specific neurological conditions and sites of injury within the central nervous system will also be reviewed. Recommended approaches for assessing these cognitive-communicative disorders, as well rehabilitative treatment strategies and techniques (e.g., aphasia, cognitive rehabilitation), will be described and discussed.  Sponsored by the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts and presented by Therese O’Neil-Pirozzi, Sc.D., CCC-SLP,
