We are saddened to share the passing of Dr. Sandra Ciocci, February 9, 2024. Sandra was known to many in our community as the Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Bridgewater State University. A lifelong resident of Massachusetts, she was a loving support and mentor for CSD students.

Sandy obtained her BS in Communication Disorders (Cum Laude) from UMass-Amherst, her M.Ed. from Northeastern University, and her Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology from UMass-Amherst.

She was a member of the Bridgewater State University community for 29 years as a tenured professor and the Chair of the Graduate Program in Speech-Language Pathology and the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Her commitment to the advancement of CSD was evident in her high level of engagement as a peer reviewer, presenter, author of journal articles and book reviews, and successful grant applications.

Sandy demonstrated exceptional dedication to her students, colleagues, and the field of CSD at large. She inspired many to enter the field of speech-language pathology, including her niece, Kristen.
