Last October, 278 professionals, parents, and students traveled from as far away as Bermuda, Wyoming, Arizona, Missouri, South Dakota and Canada and twenty other States to participate in Clarke’s Annual Mainstream Conference, The Sounds of Success: Believe It and Achieve It!

The nation’s only annual gathering of its kind, the two day conference focused on the impact of hearing loss on a student’s academic performance and social skills. Jam-packed with keynotes and workshops, the conference drew parents, classroom teachers and para-professionals, teachers of the deaf, speech and language pathologists, audiologists, school administrators and other educational professionals – all working in mainstream settings with preschoolers through high school students using listening and spoken language. Clarke’s Making Connections! Student Track program, designed for students with hearing loss in grades 7–12, provided participants with an opportunity to make new friends, share experiences, and have lots of fun!
