Webinar Description

Dr. Barbara Shadden is Professor Emeritus in Communication Disorders and Co-Director, Office for Studies on Aging, at the University of Arkansas. She is ANCDS board certified and an ASHA Fellow. Recent research and clinical activities focus on the impact of aphasia on identity and SLP roles in facilitating the construction and sharing of personal narratives that support life participation.

 

This webinar will provide an overview of the impact of aphasia on identity, our sense of who we are, and the implications of disrupted sense of identity for life participation. The importance of co-constructing personal narratives, or life stories, is highlighted; SLP roles in this process are described.
