Improving Reading Comprehension in School-Age Children

The workshop will begin by overviewing the link between lower- and higher-level language skills and reading comprehension across grades. Next, ways to assess these skills using case studies of poor comprehenders will be presented. The final portion of the workshop will focus on evidence-based techniques for increasing lower- and higher-level language skills to improve reading comprehension.  

 

The format of the workshop will be presentation-based, supplemented with discussion.  Audience participation via questions and comments will be encouraged.  A list of references and resources will be provided to participants.
